After assessing the current situation within each functional domain, the following institutional needs stand out: on the one hand, the need for specific medium and short term interventions (the issue of lecture appeal, students’ motivation etc.); on the other hand, the need for long term sustaining of the educational quality’s development’s priority and all of its aspects, we identified the following issues that require improvement:
A. There is not enough variety within the school’s curriculum offer
B. Didactic strategies must be permanently renewed, updated, diversified, adapted to the rising issues of children with special needs.
C. There is a reduced amount of therapeutic techniques among specific domains of therapy
D. There is a reduced amount of known informal methods for improving formal teaching.
To this end, 15 persons with different specialisations were selected for participating in various structured courses. The selection process is based on the principle of transparency and equal chances.
The chosen structured courses aim to develop various methodological, digital, social, linguistic, counseling, integrative and pedagogical skills. Said activities will be diversified and will consist of parent counseling or teacher & parent workshops, round table meetings, the unfolding of 2 new cross-curricular courses.
By integrating new skills and professional experiences gained from schools activities, changes will be brought upon the macro- and micro-level school structure, starting with management decisions and up to teaching/therapeutic activity management. Thus, there will be an impact upon teachers, students & the institution itself, assuring an increase in the quality of the processes of recuperation, therapy, education and integration of special needs pupils as well as improvements in the institution’s management. The school will become a modern environment ready to apply innovative methods and good practices. Results will be immediate, but also long-term, consisting of increases in motivation levels in pupils, lecture appeal, diversifying of therapeutic methods and techniques, improvement in the school-family-community relationship, increases in the quality of services that are provided. By disseminating these results within various methodical commissions and educational institutions, as well as on multiple sites and publications there will be an increase in visibility and improvements regarding the school’s purpose and image, adding to its European value.
The project brings long-term benefits to all who are involved in education in a forever-changing context which focuses on promoting inclusiveness and the values and practices of a democratical society.
